Christian Vogt

Hey.... We're not on speaking terms today.. sooooo. Just read my blog.

Christian Vogt. Interesting guy. I literally see nothing about him on google (well. not much)

Which means he must be someone you know or someone you like a lot!

I'm not super keen on some of his work? The daughter one kinda disgusted me a little? If I knew more about his artwork I might get it but I do quite like his almost surrealist images. Especially the skinpage ones and how he sets them up in exhibits.

This image in particular is breathtaking and honestly, I cant say that I quite understand how he can be so almost vulgar? yet at the same time capture amazingly beautiful landscapes. The high contrast he uses and perfect exposure makes it almost feel like the wind is rustling through my ears, I would one day like to scale a mountain like this.

This piece is nonsensical but I absolutely LOVE it. There's something to read into, or read from yourself depending on how you interpret it, to me it almost feels self destructive, like we're watching the moment you mess something up on purpose, or do something bad. It also feels surreal, I quite enjoy the side by side photos because you cant help but connect the two, or contrast them, which leads me to the next image.
Very opposite photos, one is very still and sensual, the other fast and perhaps gross, or atleast unsettling. The contrast is startling and confusing. I still am thinking of what the purpose behind grouping them might be, the difference of nature? Likening her to a dragonfly, small and fragile?
What's the purpose of so much negative space on the left but almost none on the right.
Quite an interesting photographer once you get past the vulgarity. I think that perhaps since he is also swiss this is the difference between culture? For me showing myself is the ultimate vulnerability, something not shameful, but private? America is very harsh on imperfection and nakedness shows off everything you hide. I personally can say that I do not feel ashamed of being naked, but I'm scared to open up, of being seen in that way, its almost a very personal thing to do.

This photo is a masterpiece. I almost have nothing to say, I feel as though it speaks on its own.  A call, color filling itself in, memories, contrast.
What an absolutely majestic piece.

All in all I cannot deny Vogt's immense talent and skill behind the camera, he is a genius photographer and has the most technical skill I've seen of any photographer to date, his color control, composition, and poetry/artistry is thought provoking regardless of his other pieces.
