Chuck Kelton

Hey Teach, don't worry! This blog will be done in time, just had painting to focus on. Anyways, today I'll be giving a closer look at Chuck Kelton, who I'm sure is just fine but didn't really give me inspiration past the thought that you could make very pretty things with chemical work. I veered far off to something much more my style that I found myself very happy with. Anyways Chuck Kelton does beautiful abstract landscapes through chemical painting. I'm not entirely sure why but I think he perhaps just finds joy in experimenting and using many mediums to convey his work. A quote that honestly feels very raw and confusing explains what drives his art. " Kelton calls himself a romantic in a traditional sense, with an intellectual need to exist in a visually conceptual conversation. His practice is a conversation between his emotions, ideas and the materials. His most successful works transcend a need to represent non-photographic objectivity while creatin...

Mary Ellen Mark

No need for an intro, this one follows right after my last foray. Hoping that this Photographer is different then Selgado, it would be pretty boring to just look at the same stuff. Like I said, I have no clue what I'm getting into so I'll first look at a few photos,  and then give my take on how much I like em and what the artist meant taking em. Mary Ellen Mark is, wow. (And I know I wow a lot BUT) She is AMAZING. I'm in love with the images where she shifts perspective and angle, it doesn't feel like she messed up or just held the camera tilted, it just slots in perfectly. It can add emotion, vibrancy, context. I'm not quite sure what I make of her photos yet, but if I had to guess..  Capturing the human perspective/ differences? She photographs a variety of individuals from different backgrounds and different places (although in the current series all in New York).  As I said here's a quote on why or what inspires her to photograph. "MARY ELLEN MARK ach...

Hey Teach, Youch. Two in a row huh. Welp, time to get to researching! I have no clue who or what this guy does so I'll do some all over looking. Off first looks I see he's Brazilian and that most of his photos are groups of people in more secluded areas. They're candid like shots too. I quite like his photo's due to their more observational nature but I'm quite curious WHY he chooses these types of people. I have a sneaking suspicion its to make his home a better place or to help people? Just because of the descriptions under some of the photos I see. My favorite part of his photos has to be his more compositional ones though. He has an eye for what is almost movie-like.  As always I enjoy figuring out the reason behind why these Photographers take photo's and how I feel about it. "His work at the International Coffee Organization in London required him to make frequent trips to Africa, and his desire to document these experiences sparked his interest in...
